A stock Ranker1 at the junkyard in FlatOut

The Ranker 1 (Stylized as RANKER1) is a Gold Class car available in FlatOut. With a high weight and moderate horsepower rating, it is a very well-balanced car for late-game racing drivers. It is also a preferred car for demolition derbies thanks to its excellent structural integrity.

Performance[]

The Ranker 1, like other cars in its class, is powered by a large 6.8 liter V8 engine making a modest 287 horsepower in stock configuration. It is a relatively heavy car, so it does not accelerate quite as fast as other vehicles, but once at speed, it is difficult to stop. Thanks to its strong structural rigidity and excellent design, it is an excellent choice for drivers who choose car-to-car fighting to succeed in races. The car can take a beating and keep going, but it does have its limits.

In demolition derbies, the Ranker 1 is an excellent choice, as its strong body and high power make it a strong competitor. In the hands of an experienced driver, it can act as a high-speed battering ram for use against opponents, often succeeding in flipping lighter vehicles upon impact. This tactic is especially useful for those that want to do a lot of damage in a short time frame.

Notes[]

  • The car appears to be based off of a late-1960's General Motors A-Body vehicle, such as the Pontiac GTO, or more accurately, a Chevrolet Chevelle. Its' front also strongly resembles Plymouth Barracuda.
  • It is the second-cheapest gold class car, only being bested by the Machine. This makes it an excellent choice for drivers who have just gotten into gold class, but don't have a lot of money.
  • When fully upgraded, the car makes 431 horsepower. While not as fast as other vehicles, it can still be very competitive to the experienced driver.
  • The car's name Ranker1 comes from Tomi Linja-aho's IRC nickname "Rankeri". Linja-aho was one of the developers of Flatout.
